Octopus Group is a fast-growing group of companies in the beer, wine and spirits
industry, with subsidiaries locally and in the region.
2. CFO, CNA Group Ltd (Main Board public-listed) (July 2008 to 30 Sept 2014)
Served as CFO and Joint Company Secretary for the Group. The Group is
headquartered in Singapore with operations locally and in China, Vietnam, Middle East (Dubai), India, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines. It is engaged
in controls and utomation as a master systems integrator, in water treatment plants, and in infrastructural projects across several industries, internationally.
3. CFO, Intraco Limited group (Main Board public-listed) (April 1990 to June 2004; Oct 2005 to May 2008).
Intraco was then a government-linked multi-industry conglomerate engaged in international trading in petrochemical products, in engineering & projects, food & food processing, telecoms, automobiles, etc.
As CFO (General Manager, Corporate Services), Michael’s portfolio encompassed 13 corporate functions; Finance, Investments, Treasury, Operations, Legal Services, Secretarial, Administration, Human Resource, Public/Investor Relations, Information Systems, Warehousing, Internal Audit &
Control, and Design & Artwork.
Also served as Company Secretary of the Company and held several senior
executive management positions (MD, CEO, COO) in subsidiaries of Intraco Group over the 18-year period, as follows:
a) SVP, Business Development, Intraco Limited (Dec 2003 to June 2004)
b) MD, Intraco Foods (July 2001 to Nov 2003)
c) Acting CEO, Teledata (S) Pte Ltd (Main Board public-listed)
(July 2002 to Dec 2002)
d) COO, Hutchinson IntraPage (July 2000 to June 2001)
e) MD, IntraMotors (S) Pte Ltd; MD, Prime Motors, and MD, TRAC Leasing & Rental (Jan 1994 to July 2000).
Concurrently, served as CFO Intraco from Apr 1990 to June 1995.
During the 18-year period, Michael also held more than 10 directorships in
various subsidiaries and associate companies of Intraco Limited.
4. VP (SDO) Informatics Group (Main Board public-listed) (Aug 2004 to Oct 2005)
As Informatics was in financial trouble during that period, Michael was engaged to spearhead/the restructuring of the Singapore Domestic Operations (SDO), reducing headcount
from 262 to 186, saving about $2.6m in salary costs per annum. Was also Chairman of the Informatics Campus move to Jurong.
5. CFO of Bousteadco Singapore Ltd (Main Board public-listed British MNC) (1984 to Mar 1990).
Also served as Company Secretary, and started off as Group Internal Audit Manager from 1984 to 1986. Bousteadco was then a British multi-
industry MNC with 30-odd subsidiaries and associate companies, with interests in shipping agencies, electrical and engineering, FMCG products, travel & tours, wines & spirits, air-cargo operations, contract manufacturing, air-freight, etc.
